Flight to Taiwan

Finally, my flight to Taiwan had confirmed on 26th August to 1st September 2008. It is a direct flight from KL to Taiwan with Eva Air. It cost us about RM1299/person included all tax and fuel charges. Now have to wait for all of us confirm on the leave application. However, I think shouldn't be any problem for this because we are giving almost 2 months notification.

Now we have to book our hotel. My friend introduced us a hotel - http://www.futurestarhotel.com.tw/ (明日大饭店). My friend asked us to choose $1,280/night, it is about RM138/night for a twin bed room. We are five of us, we are planning to book 2 rooms and add 1 more bed. This hotel is very near to "Xi Men Ting" 西门町. Anyone has any hotel to recommend us?

Yeah, tonight i will go to Gary Chaw Asia Live 2008. I got 2 Free Tickets from my brother's friend. My brother is not free so he gave me the tickets. Thanks. HAHA!!!

Life is like ONE and ZERO

People say life is like ONE and ZERO. When you were born you didn't bring anything and when you leave you can't bring anything. It is true, but what I think is when we were born we bring a life and when we leave we bring away a life.

When we cry, it can because of sadness or happiness. Lately, I saw too many people crying because of sadness. As my cousin said, we don’t cry but we should fondly remember. However, not everybody has a same way of giving vent to their own feeling. Some of the people will smile or laugh when they are happy, but some of the people cry when they are happy. This is only a way of they choose to release their feeling.

We shouldn’t think and look back on our life; we should look forward and plan for our future. Some time we can fondly remembering some one or something past but only good and happy things. We don’t think about hatred and sadness.

Taiwan Trip

Today we have to decide on which air line to take for our Taiwan Trip. Actually there are 3 airlines in our list:
  1. JetStar - have to depart from Singapore, after discussion we think this is not the best way.
  2. Eva Air - cheapest direct flight to Taiwan from KLIA but the flight time is worst. Night arrive Taiwan and morning depart from Taiwan back to KLIA.
  3. Cathay Pacific - has to transit at Hong Kong. May be cheaper and the flight time is better than Eva Air

Now, we will ask travel agency for the Cathay Pacific on the pricing because one of my friend is working in travel agency (in Singapore). She said if agent book Cathay Pacific will be a lot of different from whatever we can book from internet.

So tomorrow my gf will ask for the pricing and flight time. Thank You "Soh G" !!!

Trip to Brunei for a project.

Yesterday around 2:30pm, my colleague told me that we might leave earlier to collect something before fly to Brunei. Then at 3:00pm, another colleague and me went to collect a hardware from a partner side (Glenmarie) to deliver to our partner in Brunei.Original plan was leave office at 3:45pm. Then we arrived Glenmarie at 3:20pm, waited there for almost half an hour. We leave there at 4:00pmMy colleague then drive like F1 driver and we reach LCCT around 4:55pm and my flight was 5:55pm so need to arrive there at least 1 hour before in order to check-in my luggage.Luckily everything were right until 5:20pm Air Asia announced that my flight was delayed. At the beginning was only 30 minutes delay. At 6:25pm, they announced again that the flight will delay until 7:00pm so then I went to have my dinner. After boarding to the plane still waited for almost 30 minutes because the plane was refueling petrol.

Finally, the plane arrived to Brunei Airport at 9:30pm. After check-out, I went to collect all the hardware and my luggage. Then I went out to the customs, the officer asked me what is inside the box. It is actually a firewall equipment that I bring to Brunei for demo and testing purpose.

Officer 1: "apa tu dalam box ini?"
Me: "this is a Firewall"
Officer 1: "apa tu Firewall?" (while looking to Officer 2)
Me: "is for computer"
Officer 1: "for computer? use for what?"
Me: "internet security"
Officer 1: "ei, ni macam mana? dia kata untuk computer... firewall.." (ask Officer 2)
Officer 2: "firewall? apa tu?"
Me: "is for computer security, I bring here for demo and testing purpose"
Officer 2 look to Officer 1 and both of them like don't know what to do. I think Officer 1 was lazy to look for the solution.
Officer 1: "okay, boleh lah. Boleh jalan." (while pointing to my luggage)
Officer 1: "apa dalam ni?"
Me: "is my luggage."
Officer 1: "baju ke?"
Me: "yes yes, baju."
So I was escape from import tax.

Just now we discussed about this, then my colleagues here said "firewall is dinding api". So funny!!

Problem on SQL Server 2005

Recently just upgraded my SQL Server 2005 Express to Standard Edition. There was a problem on my Reporting Services. I couldn't see my Business Intelligence Project there and when I create the Report there was no Designer and Preview Mode.

Then I google about this problem. Found a solution as below:

go to the location for SQL Server setup and run .\Tools\Setup\vs_setup.exe.
This will install the VS Shell. After this is installed repair the BI Studio installation by running the following from the command line from the .\Tools directory: start /wait setup.exe /qb REINSTALL=SQL_WarehouseDevWorkbench REINSTALLMODE=OMUS

After all, still not appear. I was so frastrated and decided to uninstall and reinstall my SQL Server 2005 Standard Edition.

Finally, after reinstall then it works perfectly...I can create a Business Intelligence Project now.

Petrol RM2.70

Oh my god, just got the news from www.thestar.com.my said about the Petrol increase to RM2.70 start from today midnight... All the people now queue up at the petrol station. Luckily i have pump it yesterday.

My girl friend just called me...she is queueing up at the petrol station now.

I really have not idea how come they increase the price so much!!! 40.625%
I guess another 5 years, we will change to new gov. What to do? Petronas is declaring so much profit and we are one of the country which has natural petrol. However, they try to compare Thailand and Singapore with us. Why don't they compare about Brunei? Bruneian is still pumping RM0.90 per litter.

Haiz... have to increase salary soon, otherwise how to survive? Because all the foods, and everything will increase like 30-40%.

Second day of MCTS

Today is second day of my training. Today we have covered another 3 chapters (3, 4 & 5). I have problem on the chapter 4, because it is to design the data tier with all coding. However, in chapter 5 all the thing that we have done in chapter 4 is actually very easy to do in chapter 5 with wizards.

After class, I went back and start working on chapter 5 exercises. I have just finished until Exercise 2. Keep getting problems. Will ask the instructor tomorrow.

Today I have asked him about the Exam 70-528 and 70-536. Both of them have around 50-70 questions depend on the exam paper you got. For the passing marks, total marks is 1000. The range for passing mark is 700-900 it is also depend on the exam paper you got.

Just got a sms from my girl friend... she wish me happy birthday. I also forgot now is 4th June 2008... which is my birthday. Haha!!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

First day of MCTS

Yesterday was my first day of MCTS Training at Info-Trek (Amcorp Mall). I have finally learned a very proper and standard way of coding in .NET. I have started with Core Data Access with Microsoft Visual Studio 2005 (2541). This is a three day course, so I will be studying this particular subject today and tomorrow. There are total 8 chapters in this 2541. I’m given 2 books: Workshop and Resource Toolkit. Yesterday we have just covered 2 chapters, because most of them are Fresh Grad without experience on .NET. So the instructor tries to talk more about .NET Framework and Visual Studio and so on. Today we have covered another 3 chapters.

I personally felt that this course is not suitable for Fresh Grad to attend; this is because the instructor has to move on very fast in order to finish the subject in THREE (3) days time. I found out most of them were not following the instructor and during the exercise time, they were totally lost in the middle of air. However, nothing is impossible. It is just matter of time and hardworking. If you are willing to spend time and hardworking, then you will have no problem to go for this course.

I’m planning to come out a standard of coding in ASP.NET for my company so all programmers using same standard of coding. This will be benefit to all of us.
